My capstone project is to make a Rivals of Aether character using the workshop functionality that the developer put in. ROE is a 2d fighting game that's based off of super smash bros melee, but goes off a more stylistic pixel art style as well as small tweaks in game mechanics. The reason I’m able to make a character in the first place is through the workshop functionality that was implemented (steam workshop), in which anyone can upload a character they made so that others can download and play with an infinite amount of different types of characters (apart from the default made by the developers). The developer has made it VERY easy to begin making customizable characters, as well as testing it!
The game was made in gamemaker, which uses gml, which is what all custom characters use as well. I’m proficient in gml so that won’t be an issue, as most of the code to make it is usually simple.
Overall, my goal with making the character is all the steps, creating the design for the character, what he can do, how he looks, along with the animations.
3 Softwares that I used:
Aseprite (animated sprite editor)
Gme editor(code)
Rivals of Aether (Game)
